No Need for Women to Amputate Their Breasts if Have Mutated BRCA Cancer Gene!!

  • Avoid most sugar-based food and beverages  each day and make sure your body remains  alkaline most of the day by drinking green smoothies
  • Raise your vitamin D3 blood level to 50-80 ng/ml with safe year-round tanning and D3 supplements and keep Vit D3  at this level year- round
  • Have a radiation-free thermogram each year, no matter what your age, to find out if your breasts are inflamed or if your lymph system within your breasts is clogged; If inflammation is found, then  lose weight, move to an alkaline diet and dry brush your skin to change this pre-cancerous situation
  • Always choose  a hormone-free IUD or have a tubal ligation instead of using birth control drugs that contain  the breast cancer causing progestin chemical hormone

These are four critical, significant, healthy  and inexpensive lifestyle changes  a woman can choose to  adopt if she wants to help stop breast cancer before it starts.

These and many other healthy, inexpensive  lifestyle changes can ratchet down all women’s risks of developing breast cancer… even women born with a defective cell repair gene (BRCA1) .

A  recent  New York Times article describes how women in Israel are being tested for the “breast cancer gene”….. and then left in a quandry about what to do, it they test positive.

Being born with one of these defective genes can  increase a woman’s life time risk of developing  breast cancer…BUT only if she then  refuses to make  any or all of these or other  simple lifestyle changes.

The international research exists. It shows us what is causing all of this breast cancer in women in Israel, in the United States and around the world.

This same research also shows us that there are simple, yet significant ways that all women can stop this invasive disease before it starts, even women identified as carrying a broken cancer-fixing gene.

The problem with these lifestyle changes…

Nowhere in the Times article was there mention of  any of these  lifestyle change that can significantly help stop breast cancer before it starts.

Why not?

These  lifestyle changes  don’t offer any income  to cancer centers, surgeons, radiography clinics, genetic testing companies, and others who now profit from the growing numbers of  younger and older women who are pushed into having their healthy breasts amputated.

Also… these cancer centers  continue to believe that cancer is a genetic disease... not a metabolic disease. This means that most  mainstream oncologists and breast surgeons continue to tell women  they don’t understand why a woman has developed breast cancer. Therefore these same medical practitioners also believe it  difficult to impossible to stop breast cancer before it starts.

The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book; authors not interested in prevention

Stopping Breast Cancer Before it Starts is Not Their Job

Women are the only group with the self-interest and power to prevent most breast cancer

You might think the authors of The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book, each a clinician and senior professor in the field of breast cancer research, would offer readers the most up-to-date information on how to prevent breast cancer from happening.

But… you would be wrong.

Instead, the new book devotes only 12 out of 412 pages to educating women on the importance of prevention. Here are the book’s  major recommendations:

  • Have doctors remove your ovaries & breasts
  • Take folate supplements if you drink alcohol
  • Exercise

Sadly, the authors have ignored more than twenty years of research that now provides us a long list of specific known and probable causes and subsequent lifestyle changes that can significantly reduce a woman’s breast cancer risk.  Here are three choices that are natural, safe, healthy, simple and inexpensive.

  • Use hormone-free IUDs or have a tubal ligation so you can avoid taking birth control drugs.     WHY? The progestin in all contraceptive drugs can initiate breast cancer and exponentially accelerate the growth of tumor cells.
  • Use safe year- round tanning and/or D3 supplements to raise your vitamin D3 blood serum levels above 50 ng./ml.   WHY?  This level of D3 enables your healthy breast cells to destroy any mutated cells.

Like most breast “health” books and breast cancer “awareness” organizations, The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book  appears intently focused on diagnosing the disease: (think… “Are you sick yet?”) and on treating the disease (think…” Let us help you!’).

Yes… these are important tasks; they are also the profit-making end of our national breast cancer industry.

Sadly, The Mayo Clinic, like most other non-profit and for-profit cancer centers in the U.S. , remains strictly focused on the bottom line.  Helping women stay healthy is not a profitable undertaking. Stopping the disease from happening in the first place is apparently not their job.

Meanwhile, an increasing percentage of U.S. women,  of all ages, and those under 45,  are  being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

  • A recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found a 2% annual increase over the past three decades in late-stage metastatic breast cancer in women under 40 years, using 8 % to 18 % population samples, created by the National Cancer Institute.
  •  American Cancer Society estimates show an 11.8 % annual increase since 2007 in new cases of invasive breast cancer in women under 45 years old.
  • Between 2006 and 2009,  an average of 22,500 women , under 45 years old, were diagnosed each year  with invasive breast cancer,  according to state -based data from 99% of the U.S. population, as reported by the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR).

Why is  more breast cancer happening to our younger women, than ever before?

Who is helping women learn how to stop breast cancer before it can start?

How can we turn off this faucet of more and more breast cancer?

The Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Book ignores these three questions. Instead, the Clinic’s book, published in 2012,  is a dramatic example of why women cannot depend on the Mayo Clinic,  or virtually any cancer center or breast health center (aka mammogram clinic),  to be up-to-date on how individuals can stop breast cancer before it starts. (mammograms may detect; they certainly do not prevent.)

We  need to realize that given our current for-profit sick-care system, individual women are the only group in the United States today,  that has both the self interest and the power to actually stop most breast cancer before it starts.

Put these three books on your reading list today if you are serious about lowering your breast cancer risk:

Busting Breast Cancer: 7 Simple Steps Ebook Series –Volume 1.. Birth Control Drugs by Susan Wadia-Ells PhD

This short $3.99 ebook encourages women to try a hormone-free IUD or have a tubal ligation as alternatives to birth control drugs. The book also discusses natural ways to balance hormones if you now use birth control drugs for skin, menstrual or other hormone-related issues. Finally this small ebook offers a good summary of the most important  studies linking birth control drug use to breast cancer, including Josef Penniger’s recent and startling  research on how progestin drugs ( think all birth control drugs, some HRT drugs and some fertility drugs) exponentially increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer. This is the only book like it on the subject.

The Vitamin D3 Solution:  A 3 Step Solution to our Most Common Health Problem, by Michael Holick, MD, PhD

More and more research shows that most women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer have vitamin D3 levels under 50 ng/ml, while women with D3 blood levels over 50 ng/ml are rarely diagnosed with the disease. Dr Michael Holick’s book describes how using safe levels of indoor and outdoor tanning can offer most people enough UVB rays to make their own vitamin D3. Holick also helps readers choose appropriate levels of D3 supplements, with or without tanning, to raise your blood level up to that protective 50-80 ng/ml level.  This is the only book like it on this subject.

The Blood Sugar Solution: The UltraHealthy Program for Losing Weight, Preventing Disease, and Feeling Great Now! by Mark Hyman, MD

Numerous studies show how cancer busting  foods we eat everyday can balance hormones, lower inflammation,  and thus block breast tumors from happening.

·        avoid dairy products with added hormones or switch to a dairy-free diet

·        increase your intake of cruciferous vegetables and omega 3 fatty acids

·        avoid high amounts of  sugar from high glycemic foods

·        drink chlorine-free filtered water

Anti-Cancer, by the late David Servan-Schreiber MD, a 20 year cancer survivor, was the first best seller in this field. Now Mark Hyman MD, a functional or prevention-oriented physician,  has just published an up-to-date best seller on this critical subject of cancer-blocking foods.

Inflammation can cause breast cancer; switch it off with low-hormone foods and supplements

May 18, 2011  Did you know that inflammation in the breast has been linked to the development and progression of breast cancer?

In the December 15, 2010 issue of Cancer Research, scientists say they can now definitively show that an inflammatory process within the breast itself can promote the growth of stem cells responsible for tumor development.

Their research also demonstrated that lowering this inflammation  within the breast, actually reduced  stem cell activity and stopped breast cancer from forming. (www.physorg.com/news/2010-12-breast-inflammation-key-cancer-growth.html)

So, how can we  prevent and/ or reduce  this inflammation which can lead to breast cancer?

1. Eat a plant based diet (lots of fruits & vegetables) Eat no-hormone meats,  and seafood such as wild salmon as side dishes only. Add lots of whole grains and limit sugar; limit your non-fermented dairy (milk, butter, ice cream)… watch yourself  lose that  excess body fat!

2. Add EFA’s (essential fatty acids) to your diet. These include Omega 3, which is not as easily found in our diets. (try  a fish oil or flaxseed oil supplement).  A nice listing of many  EFA’s foods can be found on the WomentoWomen website here…..oh….and lose excess body fat.

3. Avoid certain foods known to cause inflammation such as hydrogenated oils, sugar, caffeine, gluten and processed foods, just to name a few……..and lose your excess body fat.

4. Exercise Regularly…and get rid of your excess body fat.

5. Get plenty of sleep. (Aww, don’t we all wish to have a good night’s sleep – the almighty elixir?)………and that will help you lose your excess body fat.

Want to know if you currently have inflammation in your breasts or in other parts of your body?

We recommend you have a thermogram!  Check out our next post for…..what our current day  “breast health” centers don’t offer us… safe radiation-free thermography!!!!

U. S. Breast Cancer Epidemic Hitting Young Moms and Other Women of Childbearing Age

In   2009, about 62,520 women of childbearing age in the United States were diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.  This is a whopping 41% increase from 2001, when approximately 44, 300 women of childbearing age were reportedly diagnosed with the disease, according to recent American Cancer Society statistics.

These younger American women are being hit with triple negative, HER2 positive and estrogen positive breast cancers; diseases  that usually maim, sometimes kill and often bankrupt a woman’s current and future financial situation.

In recent years young media leaders and celebrities have shared their personal breast cancer diagnoses, including Fox News political reporter Jennifer Griffin (triple negative); ABC’s Good Morning America host,  Robin Roberts (triple negative); National Public Radio’s Tavis Smiley Show Executive Producer,  Sheryl Flowers, who died from triple negative breast cancer in 2009 at the age of 42, folksinger Melissa Ethridge (HER2 positive) and film star, Christina Applegate.

Why is this new epidemic happening to our younger women? How can younger women help stop breast cancer from happening to them ever… or never again?

Thermography: safer, more accurate than mammograms

February 13. 2010

I recently had a full body European thermogram instead of a screening mammogram. Happily,  I learned that I have no tumors in my breasts, nor do I have any inflammation there, which can be an early warning sign for future  atypical cells (DCIS) or various types of actual breast cancer.

The thermogram took place in the practitioner’s office, where she had me wear a long sleeved  button-down- the- front shirt with no bra and had me strip to my underpants.

She then touched her electromagnetic wand to   various points on my body… from head to pelvis, while the computer compiled the temperature of each point.

The worse part was having to stand fairly naked for ten minutes while my body cooled down! The practitioner again passed the wand over those same body points, as the computer took a second reading of my now cooled- off body.  BRRR!!!!

Five minutes later, the computer printed off a diagram, along with  an analysis of my body’s cool and hot spots!

I   recently  learned that there are two types of thermography,  both types  being safer and more accurate than screening mammograms.

The full- body European type, that I experienced, uses electromagnetic pulses, while the more common type of thermogram uses thermal imaging.

The European type offers a functional assessment of the nervous system and is more readily accepted by medical insurance companies. But both types of thermograms are usually done on the entire body, as the breasts are integrally linked to the rest of your body!  duh!!

For example, if your left breast shows inflammation, but not your right breast, your full body thermogram might show a core of inflammation in your left shoulder  that radiates over to your left breast; Hence as in everything in life.. it is always important to get the full picture, so you can  locate  the actual  source of a problem.

Two clinics that offer European Thermography (also called computer regulated thermography ) in New England are : Jackie Bell Natural Health in Cambridge, MA  www.naturalbell.com and Sojourns Community Health Clinic in Westminster, VT www.sojourns.org

As more and more women use some type of thermography,  instead of choosing to have an annual or biannual mammogram, I predict that breast health clinics and medical centers will complain or shout  that “mammograms are safer” … until these same  clinics decided to switch over to thermography as well!

But right now, many breast health clinics and medical centers  need to pay off the cost of their new digital mammography machines , so there will probably continue to be huge marketing pressure put on women of various ages to have an annual screening mammogram rather than a thermogram.

For those of us who like to think for ourselves, and limit the amount of radiation that touches any part of our bodies, it is nice that some of us now have the     thermography option.

Dr Mercola,   America’s #1 on-line natural health MD, agrees that thermograms are safer and better than mammograms. Check out this link to his video on thermography and vitamin D3 for breast cancer prevention)

Thinking of Sara Palin and Breast Health Centers…or.."Why our hospitals don't talk about real or natural breast cancer prevention

January 5, 2010

Manchester by the Sea, MA

Our  local  Breast ” Health” Centers,  located in medical centers, community hospitals and free-standing clinics around the U.S.,  currently do next to nothing about educating women on how to keep our breasts naturally healthy.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but as Sara says, “It’s still a pig.”

Breast “Health” Centers are currently breast cancer diagnostic centers; places where women are given screening x-rays and possibly more diagnostic  x-rays in the form of mammograms or MRIs with toxic dyes, along with needle aspirations,  and lumpectomies.

But real breast health is something different. Now that we know so much more about how breast cancer begins or grows; now that we know so much more about how to actually limit the number of women who ever develop breast cancer; it’s time for medical centers to also set up real Breast Health Centers or real Breast Cancer Prevention Centers.

Real or natural breast cancer prevention is no longer rocket science; getting the word out to women seems to be a more difficult task.

Here is a sampling of what real Breast Health Centers could offer women today:

  • A blood test to determine your vitamin D3 levels with info sessions on how much vitamin D3 and calcium supplements  you should be taking every day to gradually reach the new recommended level of 60-80 ng/ml of vitamin D3 in your blood serum levels.

For more info on how 60-89 ng/ml of vitamin D3 can amazingly block the first stage of breast cancer development, go to Easy Way #1 at www.knowbreastcancer.net

  • Individualized birth control counseling for women over 40, to help you switch off of birth control pills, patches, rings and estrogen-based IUDs. Women in their  40’s,  who still use these drugs,  significantly raise their risk of developing aggressive estrogen negative breast cancers.

To see some of the research showing that  contraceptive drugs are considered unsafe for women  over 40 years of age, go to Easy Way #3 at www.knowbreastcancer.net

  • Cooking classes for women who want to include dairy-free recipes and other breast cancer-protecting foods, such as Japanese miso and fermented black beans in their families’ daily meals. The Japanese and Chinese, with their dairy-free diets and numerous fermented soy dishes, have one third the breast cancer rates of North American and Northern European women!

For more info on how organic fermented soy foods can be more effective and safer than taking Tamoxifen or Arimidex, see Easy Way #6 at www.knowbreastcancer.net

  • Education groups for women who want to put less alcohol, less nicotine and less sugar into their bodies each day. This is obviously not an easy task, but offering such support under the label of  breast cancer prevention, will take some of the stigma out of treating these dangerous lifestyles.  Using one or more of these toxins every day can triple a woman’s risk level if trying to avoid a second breast cancer diagnosis. Carrying twenty extra pounds of fat can double any older woman’s risk of developing invasive breast cancer. Also heavy drinking and/or  any level of smoking appear to cancel out any protection offered from Vitamin D3 supplementation.

For the latest research on alcohol, smoking, excess body fat and increased breast cancer risk levels, go to Easy Way #7 at www.knowbreastcancer.net

This is all pretty sobering, exciting and hopeful info, but sadly don’t expect our local medical centers to open up any real Breast Health Centers any day soon.

Why not??!

A real or natural Breast Health Center is a low-tech, low-profit service, geared to decreasing the number of community women who will ever develop breast cancer. For these two reasons alone, medical centers do not believe it is in their financial self interest to create such centers.

Remember… most non-profit and for-profit medical centers and clinics operate as for-profit corporations. Executives are often paid a six or seven figure income when they are able to snuff out competing medical centers,   recruit more cancer patients, and continue to offer highly profitable medical services  to these individuals until they die.

Until we have a  health care system that is detached from any profit motives (such as your  local fire department is)  where people’s health (your burning home) comes before corporate profits, medical  centers will never be interested in sponsoring real breast health centers.

Disagreeing with Teresa Heinz Kerry over mammograms for all

Dec 23, 2009

The number of women in the United States  newly diagnosed with invasive breast cancer is rising by 1% each year. It is with sadness therefore,  that I learned today that Teresa Heinz Kerry is now a part of that statistic.

Mrs. Heinz has been a long-standing  advocate for research that better understands environmental and lifestyle causes of breast cancer. Teresa Heinz, as an action-oriented philanthropist and policy maker,  is clearly a dear friend to all breast cancer prevention proponents.

But mammograms do not prevent breast cancer; so I reluctantly must disagree with Mrs. Heinz when she limits her remarks to say that  all women, no matter what their risk levels, should have an annual mammogram at age 40 and older.

This one and only one- size- fits- all recommendation seems inappropriate, given recent research and experience   on how  high vitamin D levels can  stop breast cancer from happening,  as well as  other known  breast cancer risk factors, not to mention  the well documented limits and sometimes dangers of annual screening mammograms.

To truly protect ourselves  from developing breast cancer,  all women,  young and old,  need to  follow a real prevention lifestyle.. not just go running to get a mammogram!

For example:

  • If you are past 40 have you found alternatives to contraceptive drugs or hormone replacement drugs ?
  • Have you had a vitamin D3 blood test yet? Are you taking enough vitamin D3 supplements every day to keep your blood serum levels at  60 ng/ml?
  • Are you filtering the water that you drink and shower with every day?
  • Are you able to  limit your alcohol intake to  three glasses of wine or beer a week?

Research shows that no one habit or drug is  going to cause breast cancer; instead breast cancer seems to happen when a mixture of such individualized risk factors comes together into a personalized toxic cocktail.

Each of us needs to understand this range of factors as we work to keep our own breast cancer risk level low.

Focusing only on getting an annual mammogram, instead of  also encouraging women to seriously follow a real prevention lifestyle, will never lower the number of women who develop breast cancer.

To understand how you can put together your own  real prevention lifestyle, see Know Breast Cancer’s 7 Easy Ways at www.knowbreastcancer.net

Wishing you  peace and good health in your home, your community  and across our world this holiday season,

Susan
