Taking statin drugs increases invasive breast cancer rates more than 200% ! Time to stop popping pills and try a healthy diet instead!
Did you know that 25% of American women over 45, now take Zocor, Mevacor, Cresto, Pravachol or Vytorin.??! Aside from being a huge money- making product for pharmaceutical companies, a new study from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle shows that women taking these drugs for more than 10 years had a 204% increased chance of developing invasive ductal breast cancer and a 243% increased chance of developing invasive lobular breast cancer. Hello???
Why do so many women take these cholesterol- lowering drugs?
Apparently most physicians continue to prescribe a daily statin dose to women who have cholesterol levels over 200. Although, according to researchers, there are no studies that show that statins protect women from fatal heart attacks.
According to best selling author and functional medicine MD, David Brownstein, physicians need to stop prescribing these dangerous drugs to women. Instead, individuals need to be urged to adopt cholesterol lowering daily diets. You know…healthy fats (think avocado) , more fresh fruits and veggies and less processed foods (think artificial sweeteners, other sugars, white flour, hydrogenated fats and chemical additives )
As my old friend Rick once told me. “Look at your shopping cart. What you put into your shopping cart is what you eat.” duh!!!!
